PAVILIONS

In architecture a pavilion (from French, “pavillon”, from Latin “papilio”) refers to a free-standing structure sited a short distance from a main residence, whose architecture makes it an object of pleasure. This unbuilt design imagined a minimalist shelter of aluminum tubing, a layer of slender rods to filter light, and a layer of sloped glass, secured by chromed steel fasteners, to divert water. A sculptural stone block at the ground level is animated by linear gas jets.
